Labels printed on the adhesive side as well: on clear packaging, the inside design shows through the glass and the product from the other side. Two messages on a single label.

A label on clear packaging has two sides on show: the front, which you read head-on, and the back, which you see through the glass and the product from the other side. Usually that second side is just the white of the paper or the grey of the adhesive. Back printing puts it to use: we also print the side that sticks to the container, so whoever turns the bottle round finds a second design. ## How the inside is printed

The adhesive side cannot be printed while the label sits on its liner. That is why we use the **delam-relam** technique (delamination and relamination), the same one behind our [easy-open labels](https://grafidel.com/en/services/easy-open-labels): during printing the face material is separated from its liner, the adhesive side is printed, and the two are joined again. The label comes off the press on a roll like any other and is applied the same way, by hand or with a labelling machine.

## What can go on the inside

- **A second design** : an illustration, a pattern or the logo, which appears when you look through the pack, like the leaf in the photo.
- **Information** : ingredients, directions for use or a recipe, without taking space from the front or adding a second label.
- **A promotion** : on opaque packaging, a code or a message that only appears when the label is peeled off.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which containers does it work on?

Clear ones, glass or plastic, with contents you can see through: water, spirits, oil or cosmetics. It pairs well with our [cosmetic labels](https://grafidel.com/en/services/cosmetic-labels) and [food labels](https://grafidel.com/en/services/food-labels). On opaque packaging the inside cannot be seen until the label is peeled off, and that can be put to use as well.

### Does the ink on the inside touch the product?

No. The print sits between the label and the outer wall of the container; the product is on the other side of the glass or plastic.

### Do I need to prepare the artwork differently?

Send us two designs, one for the front and one for the inside, and our design department will prepare them so the inside reads correctly when seen through the pack.
